After retiring from a long career in community banking, Yvonne became a councillor in 2018 as she wanted to do something to serve the community she had lived in for over 30 years. Initially serving the St Mary Cray community, in 2022 Yvonne was promoted to the Cabinet with responsibility for Housing, Planning, Leisure, Culture and the local Economy. In this role, she is able to influence council policy for the benefit of both her ward and the wider borough, addressing issues close to residents hearts. Some key achievements include the delivery of new affordable housing for Bromley residents on council land, the implementation of restrictions on the development of Houses in Multiple Occupation and major regeneration of council assets including Crystal Palace Park, the libraries and leisure centres and accelerating the roll out of full fibre broadband across the borough.
