As part of the Council's 'invest to save' programme it was decided to replace all the sodium lamps and concrete lamp posts. The programme is now completed and over 28,000 lights have been replaced by LED saving a £1m a year. Using LED lights and switching to green electricity has reduced our carbon footprint.
